India, Oct. 10 -- Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado has been awarded the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize, recognized for her role in uniting a once-fractured opposition movement and advocating for democracy in a nation long mired in political and economic turmoil.

The Nobel committee's decision to honor Machado comes in a year when global attention on the prize was amplified by U.S. President Donald Trump's repeated public claims that he deserves the accolade.
