Srinagar, May 15 -- A significant rise in the day temperature was witnessed at multiple places in Jammu and Kashmir.Jammu was the hottest in the region at 40.4 degrees Celsius, reads data of the local Meteorological department (MeT).

Around 30 degrees Celsius temperature was recorded at three other places, including Batote, Banihal and Bhaderwah, the data reveals. Furthermore, Qazigund recorded a day temperature of 29.7 degrees Celsius, followed by Kokernag at 28.4 degrees Celsius.

Kupwara in north Kashmir recorded 27.9 degrees Celsius while Gulmarg recorded a maximum temperature of 20.0 degrees Celsius. The mercury in Pahalgam settled at 24.5 degrees Celsius.
