Srinagar, June 20 -- The temperature has surpassed Thursday's high of 35.2degC, making today the hottest day of the season so far. According to independent weather forecaster Faizan Arif Keng, Srinagar has recorded its highest June temperature since June 25, 2005.

"After 1988, today's 35.5degC is the highest June temperature recorded in Srinagar since 25 June 2005," Keng said.

The intense heatwave has now gripped the Kashmir Valley for the fourth consecutive day, disrupting daily life and prompting people to avoid venturing out during peak afternoon hours.

Most parts of Kashmir recorded above normal day temperatures.
