Srinagar, June 23 -- Srinagar:In a major infrastructure push, the Central Government has approved 19 significant road and tunnel projects worth Rs.10,637 crore for the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The move, part of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways' action plan for 2025-26, includes the construction and upgradation of 296 kilometres of National Highways aimed at improving connectivity, troop mobility, and access to remote and tourist areas.
Among the approved works is the Peer-Ki-Gali tunnel on National Highway-701A, sanctioned at a cost of Rs.3,830 crore, followed by the Sadhana tunnel on NH-701 with an allocation of Rs.3,330 crore. The Zaznar-Shopian section of NH-701A has been cleared at a cost of Rs.852 crore, whil...
