Srinagar, Feb. 28 -- The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway remains closed for traffic on Friday as authorities intensify efforts to clear shooting stones and mud slush that have significantly disrupted movement along the vital route.

An official said that the highway was closed for traffic on Thursday due to incessant rain, shooting stones, landslides, and mudslides between Nashri and the Navyug Tunnel. Moreover, a section of the road sank at Mehad, Ramban.

The situation worsened on Friday due to persistent rainfall, which continues to trigger frequent stonefall from the surrounding hill slopes, making it difficult for authorities to restore the road.
