Srinagar, July 9 -- According to data, Srinagar, which recently recorded a historic high of 37.4degC on July 5-breaking a 72-year-old record-saw the maximum temperature fall to 22.7degC on Wednesday, marking a sharp 15-degree drop. This is 8degC below the normal for this time of year.

Other parts of the Valley also witnessed cooler conditions. Qazigund recorded a maximum of 23.1degC, 5.5 degrees below normal; Pahalgam stood at 20.5degC, 5.7 degrees below normal; Kokernag recorded 23.9degC, 3.4 degrees below normal; Kupwara settled at 23.8degC, 7.3 degrees below normal; and the famed ski resort of Gulmarg recorded just 15.6degC, 6.2 degrees below the seasonal average.
