India, Jan. 5 -- Union Power Minister Manohar Lal on Monday set firm commissioning deadlines for three major hydroelectric projects in Jammu and Kashmir, directing that the 1,000 MW Pakal Dul and 624 MW Kiru projects be commissioned by December 2026, while the 540 MW Kwar project is to be completed by March 2028.

The Minister, who was on a two-day visit to the Union Territory, issued the directions after inspecting the projects and reviewing their progress with senior officials and contractors.According to an official handout, Manohar Lal inspected all three projects being executed by Chenab Valley Power Projects Limited. These include the Pakal Dul, Kiru and Kwar hydroelectric projects in the Chenab Valley.
