Srinagar, May 29 -- Speaking from a stage in Bengal-a region culturally rooted in the symbolism of sindoor (vermilion)-Modi linked the military action to the traditional 'Sindoor Khela' ritual, evoking emotional resonance. "Now that I am standing on the sacred land of Sindoor Khela, it is only right to speak about our renewed resolve against terrorism-Operation Sindoor," he said to loud cheers from the crowd.

Recalling the deadly Pahalgam attack in south Kashmir that left several soldiers dead, the PM said the nation's pain and anger were shared deeply in West Bengal. "The terrorists tried to wipe off the sindoor from the foreheads of our sisters," Modi said. "But our brave soldiers made them realise the power of that sindoor."
