Srinagar, March 17 -- An official said a joint team of Police, Army and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation at Krumboora forest area of Zachaldara, Rajwar in Police district Handwara this morning.

"As the security forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding terrorists fired upon the forces which was retaliated triggering a gunfight," the official added.

In the ensuing gunfight, he said, an unidentified terrorist was killed. The gunfight was on when this report was filed.
