SOPORE, March 21 -- Gunfight broke out between militants and government forces in Warpore area of north Kashmir's Sopore village on Thursday morning.

Sources said a joint team of Army's 22 RR, special operation group of police and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Warpora village of Sopore on Thursday morning, reported news agency GNS.

A senior Police officer said that as the forces intensified searches towards suspected spot the hiding militants fired upon goverment forces triggering an encounter.

The officer further said that earlier we had brought family of a trapped militant to the encounter site to persuade him to surrender, however it came out futile.
