Srinagar, July 30 -- Speaking during a special discussion in the Rajya Sabha, Jaishankar clarified that no phone calls took place between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Trump between April 22, the day of the Pahalgam terror attack, and June 16. "There was no mediation, no pressure. The decision was India's alone," he said.

The Opposition had earlier seized on Trump's comments, alleging that Washington had mediated a ceasefire using trade leverage. Jaishankar dismissed this, reiterating India's policy of zero tolerance towards cross-border terrorism.
