Srinagar, June 29 -- The heatwave extended across south and north Kashmir, with Qazigund logging a maximum of 32.6degC, Kukernag 31.2degC, and the scenic resort town of Pahalgam touching 29.2degC. In north Kashmir, Kupwara recorded a high of 33.2degC, while the ski destination Gulmarg offered the only breather at a relatively cooler 24.0degC.
The Jammu division was not spared either. Jammu city saw the mercury hit 33.5degC, while other major towns like Banihal (30.1degC), Batote (27.7degC), Bhaderwah (31.7degC), and Katra (30.2degC) also reported elevated temperatures.
In the Union Territory of Ladakh, Leh recorded 29.0degC and Kargil registered a maximum of 31.5degC - significantly high for the high-altitude desert region.
