New Department of Registration Created in J&K,Many Commissions Disbanded

SRINAGAR, Oct. 23 -- As the Union Territories of Ladakh and J&K will come into existence from October 31, the State Administrative Council (SAC) has accorded sanction to the creation of a new Department of Registration under the Registration Act, 1908.

The centre on August 5 scrapped Article 370 and Article 35 A, besides dividing the state into two Union Territories - Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, triggering sharp reaction from Kashmiri people. Normal life remained crippled for the 81st day in the valley in protest against scrapping of the special status of J&K.
