Srinagar, July 14 -- The dramatic scenes unfolded a day after Omar Abdullah and several other leaders of the National Conference and opposition parties were allegedly placed under house arrest to prevent them from marking Martyrs' Day on July 13. Roads leading to the graveyard from Khanyar and Nowhatta were sealed, and entry was restricted.

Unwilling to be stopped, NC leaders charted their own paths.

Chief Minister Omar did a virtual power walk from Khanyar Chowk to the Naqshband Sahib shrine after his cavalcade was stopped. The 55-year-old, known for his fitness, gave a tough time to his security team - designated under the 'Z-plus' category - who struggled to keep pace during the one-kilometre walk.
