Kupwara Man Fakes Death Twice To Draw Rs 56 Lakh Insurance
Srinagar, Dec. 7 -- - In what seems to be a script of a bollywood blockbuster, a man from North Kashmir's Kupwara district faked his death twice in separate road accidents to draw a whopping Rs 56 lac insurance from a private firm.
According to the Economic Offence Wing of Crime Branch Kashmir, Taveen Ahmad Shah of village Gundi Syedain in Kupwara had opted for life insurance policies twice with ICICI Prudential Life Insurance and had fraudulently extracted the huge amount by showing himself as dead, an EOW spokesperson said.
He said that the fraud came to fore after Jatinder Pal Singh, Area Manager, ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India, Jammu, filed a written complaint in year 2008.
