Srinagar, July 1 -- Srinagar recorded its hottest June since 1978, making 2025 the second warmest June since official observations began in 1892.

According to independent weather forecaster Faizan Arif, the average maximum temperature stood at 31.0degC, and the mean minimum at 18.2degC, resulting in an overall average of 24.6degC.

"This is the same overall average that was recorded in 1971 and 1973," Arif said. "Only 1978 was hotter, when the average touched 25.0degC due to a higher maximum of 32.9degC, even though the minimum was lower at 17.1degC."

Interestingly, the year 2008 still holds the record for the highest mean minimum temperature in June at 18.3degC, just slightly above this year's figure.
