India, Dec. 29 -- Kashmir is gearing up for a fresh spell of rain and snowfall around the New Year, with the Meteorological Department forecasting light to moderate snowfall across large parts of the Valley and higher reaches of the Union Territory.

According to the India Meteorological Department, light to moderate snowfall is likely at many places across Jammu and Kashmir from Tuesday, with higher reaches expected to receive fresh snow till January 1. Weather conditions are likely to remain generally cloudy on December 30, with the possibility of light rain or snowfall at several places towards the evening
