Srinagar, Dec. 11 -- Jammu and Kashmir issued 15,44,120 e-challans for traffic violations in 2024, with authorities recovering fines worth Rs 41.42 crore, the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways informed the Lok Sabha on Thursday.
According to data, e-challan enforcement in J&K has risen sharply over the past three years. The UT recorded 4,35,530 challans in 2022, which increased to 12,38,589 in 2023 and 15,44,120 in 2024.
Despite the higher enforcement, unpaid fines have grown significantly. Outstanding amounts stood at Rs 15.08 crore in 2022, rising to Rs 52.41 crore in 2023, and further to Rs 93.03 crore in 2024.Kashmir travel guide
