Srinagar, Feb. 17 -- A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Tashi Rabstan and Justice M.A. Chowdhary ordered the MHA to file an Action Taken Report regarding Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, Niraj Kumar, and Yasha Mudgal, all former District Magistrates of Udhampur, before the next hearing.

The J&K government had forwarded their prosecution sanction request to MHA on December 27, 2024.

The court's directive came in response to a Public Interest Litigation (PIL No. 09/2012) filed by Sheikh Mohammad Shafi and others, highlighting delays in granting prosecution sanctions against eight IAS officers allegedly involved in the scam.
