India, Feb. 6 -- Iran and the United States opened high-stakes negotiations in Oman on Friday, reviving a fragile diplomatic channel after weeks of escalating rhetoric and military signalling that had intensified fears of confrontation.

Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Muscat to lead Tehran's delegation, while the US is represented by special envoy Steve Witkoff and presidential adviser Jared Kushner.

Iranian officials say the talks are strictly focused on the nuclear file. A spokesperson for Iran's Foreign Ministry described the goal as achieving a "fair, mutually satisfactory, and honourable agreement," stressing that Tehran would not expand the agenda to include regional security or missile issues.
