Srinagar, April 9 -- During a legislative session, in response to a question by MLA Tanvir Sadiq, Minister for Health and Medical Education, Sakina Itoo, said the government decided to reserve the following surgeries for public sector hospitals only: Cholecystectomy, Laparoscopic Haemorrhoidectomy, Appendectomy, Fissure-in-ano surgery.
She explained that the decision was made in line with Anti-Fraud Advisory No. 17 dated June 29, 2020, issued by the National Health Authority (NHA). This advisory highlighted instances of fraudulent and unnecessary surgeries being performed in private hospitals.
