Srinagar, May 16 -- Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has urged the Government of India to arrange additional Haj flights from Srinagar to clear the backlog. "I have taken up with the Government of India the urgent need to arrange extra Haj flights from Srinagar to clear the backlog of pilgrims caused by recent flight disruptions. Ensuring a smooth and timely pilgrimage is the Government's priority," he said in a post on X.
The Jammu and Kashmir Haj Committee is actively working to address the issue. Dr Shujhat Qureshi, Executive Officer of the committee, said they are waiting for approval from the Haj Committee of India (HCoI) to operate additional flights.
