Srinagar, May 18 -- Twenty five tourists and a local guide were mercilessly killed in a terror attack on April 22 in Pahalgam's Baisaran Valley.

In response, India launched "Operation Sindoor," targeting terror infrastructures across the border. The ensuing four-day conflict led to at least 43 deaths and widespread displacement.

The aftermath has severely impacted tourism. Authorities in the immediate aftermath restricted access to 48 tourist destination as a precautionary measure. Hotels and guesthouses across the valley report near-total cancellations.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah acknowledged the blow to tourism and emphasized ensuring safety for upcoming events like the Amarnath Yatra.
