India, Jan. 13 -- Chief of Army Staff Upendra Dwivedi on Tuesday said that terrorist recruitment in Jammu and Kashmir has become almost non-existent, with only two cases reported so far in 2025, indicating a significant decline in local militant mobilisation.

Addressing a press conference ahead of Army Day, General Dwivedi said the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir remains sensitive but firmly under control, owing to sustained counter terrorism operations and improved coordination among security agencies.

"In 2025, 29 terrorists were eliminated, of which 59 percent were Pakistan origin. Active local terrorists are now in single digits, and recruitment is almost non-existent, with only two cases this year," the Army Chief said.
