Srinagar, Aug. 28 -- After six days of relentless downpour, weather improved Thursday, but cloudbursts and landslides left behind a trail of destruction. Several people have died, and dozens of residential houses were damaged or collapsed. In Chiralla, multiple homes caved in, while in Amritpura Chanyas heavy floods inundated houses. A woman and her daughter were trapped under debris when their home collapsed but were rescued by locals.
Many residents evacuated to safer areas, with the administration shifting families to the Doda community hall. Roads, wooden bridges, orchards, and farmland have been extensively damaged.
