Srinagar, July 14 -- Officials said that over 2.20 lakh devotees have offered prayers at the 3,800-meter-high holy cave shrine since the pilgrimage began on July 3. On Monday alone, 20,448 pilgrims performed 'darshan', including 14,145 men, 5,214 women, 242 children, 84 sadhus, six sadhvis, and 757 security personnel.
The pilgrimage is progressing under tight security and favourable weather conditions, authorities said.
On Sunday, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha announced that the Yatra had surpassed the two-lakh mark. Taking to social media platform X, the LG wrote:
