Srinagar, June 26 -- A group from Branwar in Budgam district told Kashmir Observer that the local Gujjar community and other forest dwellers are still waiting for their legal rights under the FRA, which was extended to Jammu and Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370.

The group said that despite the Sub Judge Chadoora's order last July, the Budgam district administration has not held the gram sabha needed to grant grazing rights in the Chaskaninaad meadows and nearby areas in the Pir Panjal Forest Division.

The meadows, spread over about 1,000 hectares, are used by many local families, but the formal grazing rights are still pending.
