Srinagar, March 19 -- These details were disclosed by the Jammu & Kashmir Government in Legislative Assembly on Wednesday in response to a starred question by MLA Sonawari, Hilal Akbar Lone.

The minister in-charge Horticulture Javaid Ahmad Dar informed the House that out of 86 samples of pesticides and fertilisers found non-standard in the Union Territory, 85 were found in Kashmir Valley and one in Jammu.

These details show that substandard pesticides and fertilisers are found in abundance in Kashmir where a large chunk of people earns their livelihood from horticulture.

According to the minister's reply, 57 samples of pesticides in Kashmir were found non-standard in Kashmir and one in Jammu.
