Srinagar, March 8 -- In a response to a query raised by MLA Mir Saifullah, the government stated that a total of Rs 2.76 crore has been paid as compensation to the victims and their families during this period.

The Minister In-charge of Forest, Ecology, and Environment Department, said that 16 people lost their lives in 2023-24, while another 16 deaths were reported in 2024-25 in the incidents of man-animal conflicts.

Similarly, the number of people injured in such incidents stood at 124 in 2023-24 and 145 in 2024-25. As many as 269 injuries were reported in the past two years.
