India, Feb. 20 -- The Jammu and Kashmir government on Friday informed the Legislative Assembly that 32,517 drug abuse patients have been registered across the Union Territory since 2022, with de-addiction services being strengthened.

In a written reply to clubbed questions by several MLAs, the Health and Medical Education Department said 16,759 patients were registered in the Kashmir division and 15,758 in the Jammu division.

In Kashmir, the highest number of cases were reported from Srinagar (6,100), followed by Anantnag (2,157), Kulgam (2,075), Baramulla (1,623), Pulwama (1,312) and Budgam (1,166). Other districts included Bandipora (817), Shopian (713), Kupwara (552) and Ganderbal (244), it said.
