Srinagar, June 2 -- News 18 reported that under the amended Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025, properties in the name of women cannot be declared as Waqf, while the primary beneficiaries of Waqf properties should be women, children, and the poor. Detailed descriptions of properties, including dimensions and geo-tagged locations, will be required for registration.

The State Waqf Boards will oversee the registration process. Properties not registered within the stipulated timeframe will be deemed disputed and referred to a tribunal for resolution. The government will utilize Election Commission data to aid in identifying properties.
