Srinagar, March 20 -- A complete shutdown was observed in Kashmir valley on Wednesday against the alleged custodial killing of Rizwan Assad Pandith, a principal of a local public school in Awantipora who was detained on Sunday.

All the business establishments were closed and public traffic was off the roads.

The shutdown was observed in all the district headquarters in the Valley.

Heavy contingent of forces were deployed in old city Srinagar to thwart any rallies and protests. Internet in various areas was slowed down.

Rizwan died in police custody after he was a suspect for questioning in militancy related case.
