SRINAGAR, Sept. 17 -- From ' dhols to bacha nagama' and from jhankar beats to cakes, BJP workers went into a frenzy to celebrate the 70th birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Kashmir.

Leading the charge was Islamic cleric turned BJP activist Javaid Qureshi at Handwara. Wearing chains, he led a march in Handwara to symbolize what he called freedom from slavery. People danced to famed Kashmiri numbers as he marched through the streets.

Folk artists presented a Bacha Nagma (Kashmir folk dance wherein a man dressed as a woman wearing langha dances to the tunes of Kashmiri songs), to enthrall the participants.
