Srinagar, March 22 -- The frequencyof earthquakes in Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh has increased by 55 percent in the last five years.

The government data accessed by The Kashmir Monitor revealed thataround 60 earthquakes have hit Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh in 2022 compared to 27 in 2015.

On Tuesday evening, a temblor measuring 6.5 on the Richter Scale brought back the horrors of the 2005 quake in Kashmir.

Jammu and Kashmir comes under seismic zone-5.The intensity as well as the frequency of earthquakes has shown a steep rise in the last five years.
