JAMMU, March 26 -- The authorities have set off the process to seal all major mosques and shrines in Kashmir to contain the spread of coronavirus in the valley. As such, the congregational prayers on Friday will be suspended across the valley tomorrow.

On Thursday, officials kick-started the process of sealing all important shrines and mosques, especially in Srinagar, to ensure people remain indoors and not assemble for prayers tomorrow. Interestingly, on Wednesday night, hundreds of people had assembled outside the revered Charari Sharief Shrine at around 11 pm to offer repentance, disregarding the official lockdown and thereby putting in danger the entire community.
