Nigeria, Nov. 17 -- The speaker of the Taraba state house of assembly John Bonzena, has announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The defection came on Monday, in preparation ahead of the planned defection of Agbu Kefas, governor of Taraba, to the APC.
Principal officers in the state's legislature and all PDP members of the assembly joined Bonzena.
Viral videos show the lawmakers swapping their caps for those emblazoned with the insignia of President Bola Tinubu.
The legislators were also handed brooms - the symbol of the APC.
In a chat with journalists on Saturday, the governor formally announced that he will be leaving the PDP for the ruling party.
