Nigeria, May 6 -- In a major political realignment, members of the House of Representatives from Delta State have officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), while two lawmakers from Enugu State have shifted their allegiance from the Labour Party (LP) to the PDP.

The announcements were made during a plenary session on Tuesday, where the letters of defection were read before the assembled lawmakers. Leading the group of defectors from Delta State is Nicholas Mutu (Bomadi), a longtime member of the House who has represented his constituency since 1999.
