Nigeria, April 4 -- In a controversial move, the Edo chapter of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has extended the service of certain corps members by 90 days without pay, following their protest over an unpaid allowance of N77,000. The extension, sanctioned by state coordinator Frances Ben-Ushie, replaces their anticipated discharge certificates with a notice of extended service.

Originally slated to complete their service year on March 17, 2025, the affected corps members now face additional time without compensation.
