Nigeria, June 7 -- Barely ten days after the devastating flood disaster that struck in Mokwa, Niger State, the community on Saturday, June 7, 2025, held a fidau prayer in honour of the deceased.

The people of Mokwa on Thursday, May 29 woke up to a torrential rain which unleashed a flash flood that would eventually went on to claim over 200 lives, destroy houses and displaced thousands.

The fidau prayer, according to a local news medium, Tswangi TV was led by the Chief Imam of Mokwa, Mohammed Ibn Mohammed at the Mokwa central mosque.

Traditional chiefs, hundreds of residents, religious leaders, and sympathisers gathered to offer prayers for the souls of those who perished in the tragic flooding incident.
