Nigeria, March 5 -- Former Director-General of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Dr. Ishaq Modibbo Kawu, has called on journalists to uphold ethical standards and resist political favoritism in their practice.

He made the remarks during an Iftar gathering with members of the Association of Kwara Online Media Practitioners (ASKOMP) at his residence in GRA, Ilorin.

Dr. Kawu criticized the growing trend of media organizations giving awards to politicians, describing it as a joke that undermines journalistic integrity.

He recalled his tenure as Editor at Daily Trust Newspaper, emphasizing that he never supported such practices because they compromise the credibility of media houses.
