Nigeria, April 24 -- The Kwara State Government has firmly reiterated its commitment to the eradication of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) at the grassroots level, citing persistent high rates of the practice in local communities. This announcement was made by the state Commissioner for Women Affairs, Chief Mrs. Afolashade Opeyemi Oluwakemi, during her advocacy visit to Lafiaji in the Edu Local Government Area.

During the visit, the Commissioner emphasized the administration's zero tolerance policy towards FGM and violence against women, which has prompted her team to initiate advocacy efforts starting from Edu Local Government.
