Nigeria, June 26 -- In a strong condemnation of the rising attacks on teachers, the Kwara State Government described the trend as "very disturbing" and wholly unacceptable for any society that values education.
The Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, expressed concern over the increasing violence often inflicted by students on teachers who are simply trying to enforce discipline in accordance with established codes of conduct.
"These attacks are not just alarming, but also they are an assault on the very foundation of our educational system," Olohungbebe stated. "When we attack teachers, we attack the future."
