Nigeria, March 1 -- The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Saad Abubakar, announced on Friday night that Saturday, March 1st, marks the beginning of Ramadan 1446, following confirmed sighting reports from Maiduguri and Bama.

The announcement was confirmed via the X handle of @moonsightingng.

The Sultan, however, congratulated the Muslim Ummahs and wished them a fruitful Ramadan season.
