Nigeria, Oct. 29 -- The newly appointed chief of defence staff, General Olufemi Oluyede on Wednesday, confirmed by the senate following a written letter request from president Bola Ahmed Tinubu regarding his confirmation and other service chiefs.
This is as the Red Chamber began the screening of the newly appointed Service Chiefs at the National Assembly complex in Abuja.
Gen. Oluyede was confirmed barely an hour after he and other nominees arrived at the complex amid tight security.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio, while welcoming the nominees to the chamber, described the screening exercise as a constitutional duty aimed at ensuring that only the most competent and patriotic officers were entrusted with security responsibilities.
