Nigeria, Dec. 9 -- The governor made the announcement at a stakeholders meeting held at the government house in Port Harcourt on Tuesday.

Fubara joined a host of his colleagues who have defected to the APC this year.

Fibara's defection is coming barely a week after Martin Amaewhule, the Rivers State House of Assembly Speaker, alongside 15 other members of the House announced their defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Amaewhule announced the defections during plenary on Friday, blaming it on the division in the PDP, and that he had formally notified his ward chairman of his decision to leave the PDP for the APC.
