Nigeria, March 18 -- The All Progressives Congress (APC) has defended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's decision to declare a state of emergency in Rivers State, blaming Governor Siminalayi Fubara for the political crisis that led to the intervention.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, accused Fubara of destroying democratic institutions in the state by demolishing the Rivers State House of Assembly and governing without a functioning legislature.
"When he brazenly demolished the Rivers State House of Assembly, Fubara destroyed the very foundation of democracy in the state. When he governed without a legislature, he ended government in the state," the statement read.
