Nigeria, July 25 -- The Federal Ministry of Education has dismissed claims in a recent report that the minimum age for admission into Junior Secondary School 1 (JSS1) has been increased to 12 years.
According to a statement released on Friday, the ministry said that such information is untrue and did not come from any legitimate source.
"Any suggestion that the minimum age has been raised is misleading and should be disregarded by the public and all education stakeholders," the statement emphasized. The ministry reiterated that the existing minimum age for JSS1 admission remains at 10 years, clarifying that "no child should complete primary education below the age of 10."
