Nigeria, Sept. 3 -- The federal government, through the Ministry of Interior has declared September 5, 2025 as a public holiday to commemorate this year's Eid-ul-Maulud celebration.
Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, minister of interior, announced the holiday on Wednesday in a statement signed by Magdalene Ajani, permanent secretary of the ministry.
The Eid-ul-Maulud celebration is in commemoration of the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Tunji-Ojo, while congratulating Muslims in Nigeria and across the world on the occasion, urged them to reflect on the prophet's virtues of peace, love, humility, tolerance and compassion, adding that such values are critical to building a united and prosperous nation.
