Nigeria, July 13 -- Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, the Awujale and paramount ruler of Ijebuland, has joined his ancestors.
He was aged 91.
According to reports, the respected monarch died on Sunday, just hours after the announcement of the death of his longtime friend and former President, Muhammadu Buhari.
Mourning his passage, a prince of Ijebu, Prince Adedoyin Alatishe wrote on X, "Baami Ogbagba agbatewole . Erin wo. Omo anikilaya saagbu."
Confirming the demise of the renowned traditional ruler, the Ogun state Governor Dapo Abiodun, on his verified X handle, said, "It is with profound sadness that I announce the passing of His Royal Majesty, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, the revered Awujale of Ijebuland.
