Nigeria, June 9 -- The Akogun Chieftaincy Family of Oke-Ode, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, has officially nominated the Director of Corporate Affairs at the University of Ilorin, Mr. AbdulGaniyu Kunle Akogun, as the next Akogun of Oke-Odeland.
This nomination, made public during the family's 2025 Annual Reunion/General Meeting held on Sunday, June 8, in Oke-Ode, follows the demise of the 6th Akogun, the late Chief AbdulRauf Tunde Akogun, who passed away on January 10, 2024. The family noted that Mr. Akogun's nomination is awaiting formal ratification once a new Elesa of Oke-Ode is installed.
